LOL – Campaign design

THE BRIEF

We have created the campaign and social media assets for the contemporary opera, LOL (Laughing Out Lonely). Our design took inspiration from the 1920s German art movement New Objectivity

The performance is a bittersweet story about a man who lives his life in the virtual world. Consumed by this alternate reality, he joins a community of people who seek to escape real life. Morten Grove Frandsen plays the lead character. He takes on a range of dark and tragic identities to convey the communities moving stories to the audience. 

THE DESIGN

Morten Grove Frandsen fronted the digital campaign. We created the characters he embodies during the opera by manipulating his portrait. We then made short animations using those characters. 

We brought all the branding assets together to create a narrative for social media. Finally, we designed a press package and marketing materials to complete the work.

LOL premiered at the Danish Contemporary SPOR Music Festival in 2023. And later at the Royal Opera House in Copenhagen. The producer is the performing arts platform OPE-N.
